 Improved Showing Marks Grapplers
It’s not that they have a large squad; not that there is a wealth of experience that enabled the Wrestling Team to finish their season so well. After all, neither fact character izes the Brothers Grapplers. What does characterize the squad is a strong desire to succeed and a dynamic new coach. Thus, though a 4-6 record doesn’t indicate over whelming success; it does show how much the program is improving.
Proof of this was the squad’s performance against Bishop Ludden — which was their first win in four years. The lopsided score of 52-0 was achieved through the efforts of Captain Gary Kelly at 132 lbs., MVP Randy
DeYulio, and the big man on the team Bill Quigley. Quig ley proved his worth throughout the season — and in spite of the disappointing loss against ES-M, where the match seesawed up to Quigley’s contest when the decision went against him, he continued to improve each time he took to the mat.
With the experience of this year and the improvement of such grapplers as Eric Baca and Todd Burkard, who achieved his first win in tbe last match of the season, Coach Darin can expect even better performances next year.
