High Prizes Add to
Winter Week Fun
The traditional Winter Week competition got under way with a bang. The annual games which pitted class against class, was made more exciting by the increase in prize money to $375.00. Each class tried their best to emerge victorious.
The events included Soccer, Volleyball, Basketball, and Racquetball as major events; with Pitch, Backgammon, Chess, Pie Eating, Arm Wrestling, Poetry, and Photogra phy as minor events.
Competition was intense — particularly between the Junior and Senior classes, who were looking to fund their Proms with the prizes. The Juniors took an early lead by coming on strong in Soccer and some of the minor events — although they defaulted in Lacrosse. Nevertheless, Big Man Bob Smyth scared off all challengers in arm wres tling, and Gary Wells ably proved his card playing skill in
Pitch.
The Seniors were not so willing to give up a shot at first
place, though, as they scored in Lacrosse and bested the
