Hangin' Tough
Finding Our Place in Seventh Grade
7th graders. Some call us junior high and
others call us elementary studednts, but we
're not. We are really the new kids on the
block (and I don't mean the singing group
either). Being the new kids, we have one ma
jor problem . . . adjusting! Whether it's trou
ble with lockers, getting to classes on time,
or dealing with teachers, we all have to get
used to things one way or another.
Let's start with lockers. There are good
and bad things about lockers. The bad thing
is if you can't get your locker open and the
bell rings for your next class. The problem is
your books for your next class are in your
locker. The good thing is that you can build
friendships. Your locker doesn't open, so
you ask someone to help you open it. After
that you have become friends.

The next thing is getting to classes on time.
7th graders have to get used to busy halls
and getting to classes before the second bell.
No matter where you turn, you bump into
someone. Getting through halls with all
those upperclassmen and our big book bags
is like an episode of American Gladiators,
but we manage somehow.
The last thing is teachers. We are going to
have to get used to them because they are
going to be our teachers for a whole year.
We have to get used to the teachers' outlooks
on things and their techniques.
Hopefully, we'll get used to this big
change, but until then we'll have to stick in
