 Being an altar server at
mass is a tradition that
C.B.A. students are proud
to do. John Cerio and
Larry Rosales help Father
Hannon prepare the altar.
Claire Gorman brings a
candle to the altar as a

School Liturgy
The Solemnity of All Saints
The solemnity of All Saints gives reflection to the Communion of Saints.
It entails the triumphant in heaven, the suffering in purgatory, and the
Church militant (living members of the Body of Christ) on earth. Each
one prays for or to each other. Appropriately, the mass is treated in a
celebratory and triumphant manner.
Christian Brothers Academys liturgy was no exception. It was appro
priate to the theme of the mass, while combining the traditional with
the new. It began unusually with the litany being sung by the chorus.
It set the tone for the mass, as it was sung joyously while students
brought up banners naming particular saints. In a different approach
to the liturgical music, drums were included. Father Hannon's homily
was very Catholic in nature. It was concerned with ritual, but it was
not ritualistic. He treated the entire mass with delicacy.
It seems that we should give praise to the saints in heaven, as we pray
for their constant intercession. However, we admire them not for what
they do for us, but rather what they did for God. The feast of All Saints,
therefore, gave us an opportunity to do just that: praise and admire.
