Many of us are blessed (or cursed, depending on who you ask) with the gift of older or younger siblings. But a select few of us are fortunate enough to possess a duplicate of our physical selves — a twin. Someone who is, to the curious onlooker, exactly like the other sibling. Often, the twins are mistaken not only for being the same on the outside, but also on the inside; when in reality, they are two very different people.
All have managed to fool us at least once. We see one twin in the morning, and then see the same one again (right?), except they’ve changed their clothes (“I could have sworn he was wearing a blue shirt today!” ). Who knows — maybe it is all part of an elaborate plot to fool us — maybe there really is only one of each set. Perhaps they delight in pulling the famous “ twin switch” (Maybe it really was Francesco in my physics class today, instead of Jim), and have managed to pull the wool over the eyes of their teachers at least once.
In any case, it is the responsibility of these special siblings to keep us guessing was it Andrea I talked to this morning? Or Maria? Maybe that kid who I thought was Mike really was Brian, and they certainly do a spectacular job.
