The traditional Gettysburg trip was a busy weekend of many museums, and thankfully, a relaxing hotel. Mrs. Irwin, Mr. Romano and our other chaperones acted as tour guides, showing us the hot
spots of Gettysburg.
Our class gathered at CBA at 7:00 am
that morning to depart for our long jour ney to the city of Civil War history. Having our bags inspected was bad enough but the hot-pink sunglasses that Mrs. Irwin gave us certainly woke eve ryone up.
The bus ride down was brutally long and boring. Even when we finally ar rived there, the Jenny Wade house didn’t add much to the excitement.

However the bus driver did entertain us by pointing out that a clump of trees, because of its location within the Union army’s lines, accounted for a part of the Union victory at Gettysburg. Back at the hotel we cooled off with a swim and feasted on a junior high favorite, pizza. The next day we climbed Little Round Top and explored the infamous Devil’s Den.
The ride home was as exciting as the ride down. There were a few more folks sleeping, wiped out by the touring and the swimming. Still, the 8th grade class enjoyed their trip to Gettysburg. It was a perfect way to end the year!
