he dedication of CBA’s faculty is as obvious as it is exceptional. Their devotion to the students is unique and personalized. There aren’t many schools lucky enough to employ such astounding minds. The students of CBA are fortunate enough to be shaped by some of the best teachers there are to be offered.
Many teachers have multiple classes through various grades, and those who don’t are involved in other educational programs. For example, not only is Mr. Roache the senior Government and Economics teacher, but he is also a professor at LeMoyne College. Because of this, some of the Academy’s students may have him two years in a row, not that that’s a bad thing... Teachers are also the one’s who volunteer their time to initiate and moderate clubs and activities. Just last year Mr. Mominey and Ms. Burrows joined together to bring students the support of SOS. Foreign language teachers give up their afternoons week after week so that we can better associate with other cultures, and English teachers help students produce the newspaper and
Underground. Religion teachers are very much involved with Campus Ministry and LaSallian Youth Group as well as instilling the word of God in us. Music teachers teach band and chorus, and art teachers support the art club. The outstanding commitment of our faculty is what holds our school community together.
Some faculty members have good reason to take pride in CBA and its students, for they were once students here themselves. This holds true for Br. Gabe, Mr. Kinn, Mr. Sacco, and Mr. WIeklinski. They have watched the Academy mature over the years and develop into the educational system it is today. Though these alumni have a personal bond with the Christian Brothers, it does not mean that any other members of our staff love the school any less. Their involvement goes far beyond the students, for many of them are friends outside of the work place. How many times have we caught Mrs. Norton gossiping with Mr. Lovecchio? And how many times have Mr. Mominey and Mr. Benware argued over baseball?
The teacher-teacher relationships at CBA are just as immersed and devoted as the teacher-student connections, and that is one of the largest reasons the Academy functions as well as it does today.
