 J
ctivities play a vital role in the community of CBA. They allow students to join together and participate in functions they enjoy.
Because of the wide range of activities available, the students are able to excel in the areas they are best at. CBA is lucky enough to instruct some of the best student writers in Central New York. Many of these students are involved in either Purple and Gold, Writers Guild, Underground, or Yearbook. The musically talented choose to partake in band, jazz ensemble, or chorus, entertaining the community various times throughout the year with concerts. Those who enjoy exceeding in academic excellence and striving to get ahead of the game join Science Club, Math Team, and National Honors Society, while those who are leaders in the community join Amnesty, LaSallian, SOS, or Student Senate. It is clear to see that no matter what your interests may be, there is something available at the
Academy.
Being involved with others is a good way to broaden your horizons and connect with yourself. It brings you into closer relationships with classmates because you learn to work together so intimately. It is also a good way to meet students from other grades who you would not otherwise have contact with. This is an admirable design for upperclassmen to help guide the younger students through their inexperienced years, when new surroundings may seem overwhelming.
Many students are concerned with college acceptance, even in their sophomore and junior years. Extracurricular participation could set one student apart from many others they’re in competition with. It shows the colleges that you took an active interest in your school’s community. Hundreds of CBA students continue to be involved in activities annually because they are enjoyable with nothing but positive results.
