 4. CONTESTS
Contests for the speakers begin in September and continue on to June. They consist of Diocesan Meets, New York State Meets, the Annual LeMoyne Contest, the Mission Contest, local CYO contests, and the Freshman-Soph- omore school contests. All demand hours of reading, composing, memor­ izing, and finally “sweating” at the end.
5. VICTORIES
Thomas Coffee places first in the American Legion Oratorical Contest.

Christian Brothers Academy was rep­ resented on the first showing of “It’s Academic”, sponsored . by WNYS-TV, and we won!

AND MORE VICTORIES
The team participates in many outside- of-school contests, sponsored by such or­ ganizations as the Optimist Club, the American Legion, the VFW, the Knights of Columbus, and others. The contests give speakers with ambition and drive the opportunity to win college scholarships and grants, not to mention the amount of self- satisfaction that accompanies a victory!
