C.B.A. students and
teachers are always pre
paring for the day ahead.
Here. Dr. Dalakos and
Emily Micale are ready to
face the challenges of a
new day.
First Day of School
t started like any other
Ischool day. Buses pulled
up to the school one by one,
dropping off students in
groups. Friends gathered and
talked with one another (gen
erally about something other
than school). Then, it was
time for homeroom, that
magical place where students
would eventually be hurrying
to finish their homework.
The familiar sound of Brother
Michael’s voice reciting the
prayer. Pledge of Allegiance,
and the daily announcements
could be heard over the loud
speaker. It was usually in
competition with the sound
of the homeroom teacher tell
ing the class to be quiet. This
nine o’clock bell, signaling
the beginning of the day —
the first day of the 1994-95
year at CBA.
Along with the first day
came the usual mishaps.
There was the difficulty of re
membering schedules, as
well as locker combinations;
however, most overcame
these obstacles and made it
to the two-thirty bell and the
end of the first day. It was a
time to stop and relax, and
contemplate the day’s events
. . . before having to do
homework or attend sports
practice. It was the end of
one day and the beginning of
was soon followed by the
a new year.
