“The future of the world stands in peril unless wiser men are forthcoming.” The Declaration on Christian Education of the Second Vatican Council did not pull any punches.
You members of the graduating class of 1968 face the greatest opportunities of any group that has graduated from CBA. To eliminate war, to secure peace, to remove segregation, to strengthen the family, to renew the Church—all these goals must be achieved in your generation. No other course of events is thinkable.
Your class had demonstrated great capacity in many areas. Your intellectual achieve ment was amply shown by the results on the annual Regents scholarship examination; your athletic prowess in the records of the sports program; your cultural interest in the successful speech and music activities; and your sense of service to the community and to the Church in your work on the tutoring program and on other religious activities.
A group of young men with so much promise leads me to believe that indeed “wiser men are forthcoming,” at least from CBA.
I am confident that you, the members of the class of 1968, will fulfill all that you promise and will thereby carry on the cherished tradition of CBA.
Sincerely yours,
Brother David Delahanty, F.S.C. Principal
