Starting The School Year
With A Prayer:
We have heard with our ears OGod, our fathers have told us, what deeds thou didst perform in their days, in days of old... In God we have boasted continually, and will give thanks to thy name for ever.
Opening mass is a tradition here at CBA, and while the masses of ten, twenty, up to one hundred years ago may not have compared with the beautiful songs, speeches, and sermons of this year’s mass, they certainly met theirpurpose.Theyfilledthe students of earlier classes with confidence as they embarked on the new school year. They still do this today.
Each year, as we, the students and faculty of CBA, return to its seemingly
alien classrooms, the opening mass helps us to recall our task here, and remember who is the head of our school.
This year’s mass was especially important, as it marked CBA opening
its doors to a new year for
hundredth time. Mr. Mominey, our new head of campus ministry, delivered a flawless reflection, reminding us of the pride in our school’s past, and encouraging us to continue the tradition in the years to come.
“Christ is the head of this school.” May he
forever be.
