You know what’s funny about the last snowfall of winter? It doesn’t seem that special when it happens. It appears, out of the sky, like every other snowfall. You don’t know it for what it was until much later. Only then do you realize it was special. It had meaning.
Six years is a long time to spend in one place. It can get monotonous. But when it’s said and done, when you step outside of these halls, away from these people, and look back, you might realize it had meaning. Maybe it was even special. But what if you didn’t have to wait? What if you cherished every snowflake, right when it landed on your shoulder? Would you stop for a moment, and realize that your life is better than you thought? Would you look around at the friends who’ve stood by you, the people who have nurtured you, the halls that have seen you grow and change- would you look around, and maybe even feel lucky?
Don’t wait until you’re looking back to smile. Realize every day is as distinctive as a snowflake. Everyone around you is rare, you may never meet them again, so take a good look at their intricacies while you still can. Take a good look at the time you’ve spent here. That way, maybe you’ll look back someday and be thankful you enjoyed this time while it was yours.
