The Brothers’ varsity basketball squad has been
on the bandwagon again this year. This was a tough
season for the defending Section III champions.
Coach Jack Conroy’s career at C.B.A. has been an impressive one. though. We defeated some of the
best CNYCL teams again for the fifth year in a row c under his leadership! As always happens, Ludden
was twice trounced on by our quintet. However, this was a team that was comprised of three new starters who stepped into the shoes of the graduated stars Jerry Zabinski, Mike Christie, and Pat Burns.
Seniority is what composes this year’s “hoop” team, with half of the players being seniors. Both Charles Sease and Mark Genovese were on the top of the scoring list during the season and they both played a key role in the success of the team. The starting guards of Bob Gilmartin and super-talented Duane Owens manhandled opposing teams and engi neered a devastating offensive power, while Senior buddy Vita and Sophomore Bill Ferris were always
there to give the starters a rest. Starting Junior Dave Rabe fully developed his skills and should be a force to reckon with next year, as should be Juniors Ken Merrick, Evan Foulke, and Jim Burns.
