This year’s Varsity Basketball season can be summed up in one work: determi nation. Despite pre-season speculations that the “heightless” Brothers couldn’t compete in the tough Metro Division, they posted an excellent record.
Led by tri-captains Mark Adams, Scott Laba, and Nelson Whitmore, the Brothers went 7 and 1 in 1987, with con vincing wins over arch rivals Fowler and Corcoran. They also captured their own Christmas tournament by destroying Baldwinsville and Marcellus.
However, 1988 was not as sweet. The team hit a slump in mid-January, losing 3 out of 4 games at a stretch. But thanks in part to great senior leadership and a quartet of talented Juniors: Gladden, Haas, Jones, and Stinziano, the team seemed to pull through just fine. All in all, it was a fine year, one that Coach Wleklinski can look back to and be
proud of.
