A STRANGER IN MY HOUSE
(Continued)

stayed through the constant beatings and abuse. They always say and it is very true “A person does not leave because they are hurt. A person leaves because they have had enough.” Enough was enough. Behind closed doors, I subjected myself to the abuse, but the day he almost took my life in front of our daughter’s eyes, I realized that my daughter deserved to have her mother raise her, with or with out you. 6 months and still recovering, I look in the mirror and see my scars are healing on my face, my eye is almost back to normal, although I lost some of my vision and my heart is slowly, but surely healing. I guess I broke my silence and am sharing this story with you, because I want women around the world, but most importantly my daughter to know that, when it comes to love keep with you these five (5) important things:
1) Remember to love yourself first;
2) Don’t depend on any man, besides God;
3) Not everyone is your friend or has your best interest at heart;
4) Everyone around you doesn’t want to see you happy, especially when you are happy without them and
5) Last, but not least, always say “I Love You, but I Love Me More!”

I allowed myself to change to accept things I could not change. I held onto someone, who wasn’t ready to be held. I allowed a vision in my head of Prince Charming to blind mefromseeingtherealmanwhostoodbeforeme. With that being said, through it all, the “Stranger In My House” wasn’t him, IT WAS ME.
