It was during his seven years at Latte from 1995-2002, that Manny paved the way for progressive and even incongruent approaches that addressed stereotypes, mixed highbrow and lowbrow culture, juxtaposed urbanized island life and cultural traditions, exposed political scandal and taboo subjects, and promoted discussion of the diverse
communities and complex cultures of Guam.
These included Guam’s LGBTQ community, the Ice epidemic, the Catholic church, Chamorro art forms, the sex industry, Micronesian migration, and sports.
The Latte issues also covered the who’s who of Guam and included articles written in Chamorro, fashion spreads, short local fiction, comics by Jeff Harris, a Manny’s series of hand-colored black and white original photographs that featured unsung heroes, cultural
pioneers and practitioners, and articles on culture, arts, and history.
