Message from the Vice Principal: Research, Postgraduate Studies, Innovation and Commercialisation

The Department of Library and Information Services is an integral part of the Portfolio: Research, Post Graduate Studies, Innovation and Commercialization. The institutional Strategic Focus Area 1: “Towards becoming a leading ODeL, comprehensive university in teaching and learning, research, innovation and community engagement based on scholarship” is be tting in addressing the Teaching, Learning, Community Engagement, Research and Innovation in the achievement of the academic project.
The year in review came with opportunities for the Library and Information Services to reevaluate its service provision in the context of the African Union Agenda 2063 which places prominence on research and innovation for sustainable development. The impact of the 4IR was also a consideration in reimagining how the ODeL service provision for knowledge generation that is supported by eTools, Databases, Repositories and OERs that enhance research outputs and student success rate.
The Senate Library Committee played a major role in supporting the libraries developments and initiatives and commends the management and the staff of the Department of Library and Information Services on its achievements.
