Owen has highly successful international track record in technology, heading up IT departments in mutli national companies such as Michelin Tyre Company and Caterpillar Tractor Company, before bjoining IBM. He served as a European director at IBM, where he specialised in the development, introduction and marketing of advanced products and technologies. He represented IBM externally on several bodies including Paris based OECD committees. On his return to the UK he was appointed to the UK board.
On leaving IBM he was appointed chairman of a public company fully listed on the London Stock Exchange a position he held for two years until its successful takeover. He subsequently started his own CCTV security and computer technology business which he floated on the London AIM Stock Exchange in 1997.
Since 2015 he has focused on renewable technology start-ups.
Brett is an experienced strategy and finance professional with deep knowledge of financial services (banking, private equity, development finance), management consulting and oil and gas.
He has a unique expertise in solving for market failures through innovative financing and strategy development, which enables him to create meaningful solutions and impact.
He has held senior roles in various organisations, including being Head of Corporate Strategy and M&A at Total, Head of Corporate Strategy at the Development Bank of Southern Africa and various advisory roles to the South African Government.
He has served in senior roles in private equity funds, and has advised on the design of alternative investment funds. His advisory and management consulting roles have given him vast exposure in a number of sectors and industries.
