緣起 ORIGIN
台灣有450萬吸菸人口，一年吸菸量包數約25億包，相當於500億根香菸，每4人就有一 人亂丟菸蒂，累積棄置在戶外公共場所及不易清除之死角的菸蒂至少100億根以上，就有 超過五分之一的菸蒂，沒有被當一般垃圾不落地處理，一支菸蒂至少15年才能分解，菸 蒂殘留物含有劇毒及可溶解的化學物質、重金屬，進入水道中會對水生物構成致命威脅 ，每一根菸蒂泡在一公升的水中所釋放出的毒素就足以殺死一條魚。 因此我以菸蒂為材質，回收再造，希望能減少菸蒂的垃圾量。
In Taiwan, there are 4.5 million people who smoke, the total amount if cigarette pack smoked is 2.5 billion packs a year, which can be counted as 50 billion cigarettes. There’s one person who litter cigarette butts in every 4 people, so the amount of cigarette butts that were abandoned in public places or stuck in corners which is difficult to clean out is at least over 10 billion, and over one fifth of those weren’t taken seriously as general waste which weren’t properly thrown into a trash can. It takes at least 15 years for a single cigarette butt to decompose and break down. The remains in cigarette butts contains high toxic and soluble chemicals and heavy metals, which will threaten the life of aquatic animals once they get in the sewer system. Every single cigarette butt that were soaked in a liter of water can release the toxic that’s enough to kill a fish. Therefore I choose to use cigarette butts as my material, in order to recycle and reuse for the reduce of this kind of trash.
