EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, EDWARDS, CA
Mission: The 412th Test Wing is the host wing for Edwards Air Force Base, Calif., the 2nd largest base in the Air Force. The wing oversees base day-to-day operations and provides support for over 10,000 military, federal civilian and contract person- nel assigned to a 481 square mile installation. The 412th Test Wing plans, conducts,
software and components as well as modeling and simulation for the U.S. Air Force. and engineering.
AIR FORCE PLANT 42, PALMDALE, CA
Mission: Air Force Plant 42, a U.S. government facility in Palmdale, Calif., is home to NASA, the Lockheed Martin Skunk Works, Northrop Grumman and Boeing. Over the years, Plant 42 has seen many cutting-edge aircraft designed, built and tested at the facility including the B-2 Spirit bomber, the Space Shuttle and the SR-71 Blackbird. Contractors at Plant 42 share a common runway complex and either lease buildings from the Air Force or own their facilities outright – a set-up known as ‘government owned-contractor operated.’ Government functions are now provided by the 412th Test Wing, based at nearby Edwards Air Force Base. The legacy continues into the modern era with such programs as the Lockheed Martin Quiet Supersonic Transport, the X-59 QueSST, being designed and built for NASA, and Northrop Grumman’s B-21 Raider, the Air Force’s newest bomber.
MOJAVE AIR AND SPACE PORT, MOJAVE, CA
Mission: The Mojave Air and Space Port in California’s High Desert, is the premiere location for air- and spacecraft testing. The facility is home to many cutting-edge companies including Scaled Composites, Virgin Galactic, Stratolaunch, and Masten Air Systems among others. It is also home to the National Test Pilot School, the only civilian test pilot school in the United States, and one of only seven schools in the world recognized by the Society of Experimental Test Pilots.
FORT IRWIN NATIONAL TRAINING CENTER, NEAR BARSTOW, CA
NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, NORTH LAS VEGAS, NV
Mission: The “Home of the Fighter Pilot,” Nellis Air Force Base is home to the U.S. Air Force Warfare Center, the largest and most demanding advanced air combat training mission in the world. At Nellis, we provide training for composite strike forces, which include every type of aircraft in the Air Force inventory. CREECH AIR FORCE BASE, INDIAN SPRINGS, NV
Mission: On June 20, 2005, with the transfer of the remotely piloted aviation mission to Indian Springs growing rapidly, the U.S. Air Force re-designated Indian Springs AFAF as Creech AFB in honor of Gen. Wilbur L. Creech. The shifting of a global remotely pi- loted aviation mission to Creech AFB, to include aircrew training and the supporting, directing and coordination of combat sorties halfway across the world, continues to
piloted aircraft. The U.S. Air Force provided for direct leadership of these missions
on May 1, 2007, with the activation of the 432nd Wing at Creech. Activation of the 432nd Air Expeditionary Wing on May 15, 2008 formally recognized the full spectrum of these operations. Creech AFB also continues to serve as the aerial demonstration training site of the Air Force’s Thunderbirds, and to engage in daily overseas Contin-

DAVIS- MONTHAN AIR FORCE BASE, TUCSON, AZ
Mission: To provide attack airpower, expeditionary combat support and medical forces ready for worldwide deployment to combatant commanders. Produce highly-trained A-10C pilots to meet the Combat Air Forces, Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve requirements. Support the 12th Air Forces (AFSOUTH) not only in the U.S., but all over the world. D-M Airmen perform many humanitarian missions to South America.
