What does retirement and decommissioning mean for The AV Wall?

Board of Directors
President: Mike Bertell
Secretary: Linda Willis Treasurer: Stacia Nemeth Logistics Coordinator: Steve Willis Gold Star Ambassador: Augie Anderson Chief of Protocol: Conrad Hernandez President Emeritus: George Palermo Engineer (Retired): Glen Nester
Beginning in 2023, the AV Wall Board began discussing possible retirement of The AV Wall.
Over the next two years, the vague idea of retirement became a true possibility, then a necessity.
The AV Wall itself is showing its age, as is the AV Wall Board and Committee members. The board talked, researched, prayed, and talked some more before agreeing that The AV Wall will be decom- missioned after The Final Salute Display in November 2025.
The panels will be separated and

distributed to Gold Star families, loved ones, local Veteran Clubs,
local fraternal clubs, and local busi- nesses. The Antelope Valley can be proud to have created such an incredible monument that has lived up to its motto of bringing people together.
The AV Wall Board is grateful to everyone who donated, created, traveled, hosted, and cared for The Mobile Vietnam Memorial Wall over the past 20 years. It was a wonder- ful journey.
For information about acquiring a panel, contact Stacia Nemeth at Stacia@avwall.org.
