99th ABW commander hosts
public charter school town hall
A participant in the public charter school town hall meeting poses a question
to Col. Richard Boutwell, 99th Air Base Wing commander, and representatives
from Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., Dec.
15. During the town hall, Boutwell and the CASLV reps discussed the base’s
upcoming elementary school transition from the Clark County School District-
based Lomie G. Heard Elementary School to CASLV.

NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. — Col. Rich-
ard Boutwell, 99th Air Base Wing commander,

Q1: You said the school on base will go to
8th grade in the coming years, so is it possible

school?
A1: For now, CASLV will operate out the

the possible so nothing is off the table, but I don’t
want to give you a false hope because there’s a
lot of work left for us to do before we can answer
that definitively.
Q3: We are currently stationed here but my
husband’s job bounces between three bases.
There’s a good chance we will leave and come
back. If we move but PCS back here after the
school’s registration period has ended, what
do we do?
