Iwas sitting at the computer scanning a blank piece of paper to create a new series of work and noticed the music I was listening to all had titles that started with the word ‘if’ (this happens when your songs are played alphabetically; in fact, some are repeated as they are covered by different artists that I love).
Another time, for another series, I became aware that the titles began with ‘I’ and a third time, another day, ‘don’t’.
It occurred to me that if is part of life, I is necessary to reflect and don’t is slamming the door. Putting all three together seemed like a realistic way to move forward and live a full life, in a complicated world.
