Cricket Club The OMs lost to Millfield in in the the preliminary round of the the Cricketer Cup on Sunday 22nd May 2022 The match was sadly a a a a a a a really bad day on the the Senior for the the players but a a a a a very enjoyable day for those attending the Patrons Club lunch also on the Senior Captain Josh Haynes won won the the the toss for the the the OMs and elected to to bat bat first on on on a a a a a a a a a lovely sunny day a a a a a a a a a perfect batting wicket with the College grounds never looking more wonderful After just six overs we we were 43–0 thanks to a a a a a a very bright start by Freddie Wynn and Zen Malik but both got themselves out playing rash shots After this it was a a a a a a a a a a steady procession of our best players getting out invariably to poor shot-selection rather than good bowling Not one batsman reached 30 no partnerships were formed and often we we we had two new batsmen at at at at the the wicket at at at at the the same time How we we we needed a a a a a a a a a a a a a a David Nash a a a a a a a a a a a a a a Roger Tolchard or or a a a a a a a Will Gifford to to to steer us to to to a a a a a a a good total A final total of 181 all all out fin in in in in the 40th over over (with 10 overs unused) was never going to to be enough especially fin in in in in in in such perfect batting conditions and and and so it it it proved with Millfield winning comfortably
by 5 wickets and and and 10 overs in in in in hand All in in in in all a a a a a a a a a a performance from which our young team must learn if if we are to lift the Cricketer Cup for an 11th time Malvern College strives to attract and and develop young cricketers
of real talent The OMCC Patrons Club will encourage and and and support the the College as it it continues to actively seek out and and and recruit the the next generation of of talented cricketers
and and maintain our national reputation as one of of the great cricketing schools As we we go to to print we we are delighted
that the the the team is through to to the the the final of the the the Cricketer Cup 2023 2023 which will be played at at at Arundel on Sunday 13th August 2023 2023 What a a a a a a a a a difference a a a a a a a a a year makes!
