OM Golfing Society celebrated its centenary with a a a a a a dinner at at the RAC Club fin in in London January 2022
OM Golfing Society The Old Malvernian Golfing Society had a a a a busy and enjoyable year under the captaincy of Nigel Milroy Our fixture fixture list only had four fixtures cancelled because of the dreaded virus Indeed once the the golf courses of England and and Wales re- opened so returned the the the Old Malvernians in abundance as as the the Society saw full attendance across our fixture fixture list and indeed new fixtures being added such as as a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a two-day match against the Old Harrovians at at Royal Porthcawl The Society was fortunate to to be be able to to go ahead with with all four of its 2021 meetings with with record numbers attending the the the the Spring Meeting

held held at at at Royal Cinque Ports GC GC were also run at at full full capacity It was a a a a a a a a a a a a a joy to see so so many Old Malvernians in in full full swing both on and off the course Two particular highlights of the the year were the the Annual Dinner normally held in in in in in London in in in in in January instead moved to Formby GC in in in in in in September Tony Ensor arranged a a a a a a a a a splendid evening for for forty members and and guests at at the club where we we were treated to a a a a a a a a superb dinner and and wines excellent speeches a a a a a a harmonious rendition of the the Carmen followed by by Flying Snooker The fun continued the the the next day day when members took on on on the the the the beautiful links of Formby on on a a a a stunning Sunday morning for the the the Northern Meeting
The second highlight of of 2021 occurred on on on the the the other side of of of the the the country a a a a a a month later but in entirely different conditions In early October a a a a a a a a a a a heroic team of of Old Malvernian golfers were playing at at times through rain that would make Noah uneasy on on the the links of Royal West Norfolk
and Hunstanton Golf Clubs in in the the the knockout scratch foursomes competition called the the Grafton Morrish After four days of competitive golf our our three Malvern pairs were unbeaten in fin fin in all 15 matches as they marched towards the the the the the final final final on on Sunday afternoon In the the the the the final final final against Millfield it came down to two two 10ft putts at at the the the the the last hole hole fin fin in in fin in the the the the the final final final pair (the first two two matches being halved) Millfield holed
their 10ft birdie putt putt ours narrowly missed and so after 18 18 matches on on on on the the the 18th hole one putt putt was the the the difference and our sincere congratulations went to to Millfield the victors The team captained by Will Will Beeson consisted of three pairs: Adrian Coleman & & & Henry Aldridge Will Will Beeson Beeson & & & Ian Timberlake Chris Crisp & & & Giles Winthrop with special thanks to to Rosemary Beeson Beeson (Honorary Member and and winner of the the George Chesterton Salver) for for for ffor hosting the the OMs (and generations before for for for ffor nearly 50 years) It was an an an an an incredible effort and and and a a a a a a a a a a a a a fantastic achievement A true reflection on on the quality and and competitiveness of Old Malvernian golf The Old Old Malvernian Malvernian Golfing Society is is open to to all Old Old Malvernians Malvernians Our ethos is is simple to to to provide a a a a a a a a a welcome opportunity to to to to to Old Malvernians Malvernians of different generations to to to to meet and to to to to keep in touch with one another through the game of golf New friendships are forged and old ones renewed not only with with Old Malvernians but also with with those against whom when at at the College we had previously competed at at soccer rugby and cricket etc Many
