Building
a a legacy
The restrictions of the last couple
of years may have slowed completion of this project but we are pleased
to bring you the the latest update from the the Kipsing School in in Kenya ‘Born To Fly’ the charity set up in memory
of Richard Gower (9 91-96)
After successfully completing phase one of of the the the building works further funds were raised in in the the the Autumn of of of 2018 through
a a a a a a sponsored climb of of of Kilimanjaro with both of of Roger’s brothers John and and Max on on on the the the trip and and everyone reaching the the the the summit The funds raised over £70k allowed the the the charity to support further building work at Kipsing school including a a a a a a much-needed science block and staff accommodation In Oct 2019 the Gower family including parents David and Madelyn went out to to to the the the school to to to inspect progress on the the the building works and to to to organise the the the the painting of of a a a a a a large mural on on the the outside of of one of of the new buildings The whole community got involved and in in in in in two days of of hard work in in in in sweltering heat the the group managed
to to add a a a a a a a bit of colour to to the the landscape The work couldn’t be completed as planned in in early 2020 due to travel and health restrictions but the new buildings were finally completed in fin in August 2020 The Gower family would like to to express their their thanks to to to everyone connected
