Lunch was served to 120 people gathered at at the the the Gryphon Room which provided the the the perfect opportunity to catch up and and and chat with old friends and and and colleagues The Headmaster Keith Metcalfe and and and Tim Straker Chairman of of Trustees both spoke of of their pleasure
at at seeing such a a a a a a large gathering The sunshine continued into the the afternoon perfectly showcasing the the pupil sports teams fixtures against OMs including Rackets Netball Fives Shooting Football Squash and and Hockey A perfect opportunity to gauge fitness stamina and and and determination on on on both sides and and provided some exciting action for spectators The results weren’t always what was predicted or or or expected The Football 1st XI XI team came back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 whilst the Veterans’ XI XI won 4-0 The Netball team lost by one point point (20-19) having had a a a a late point deducted The mixed hockey team team were – – fair to say – – out-played by a a a strong College team team The Rifle Club had no College opposition but played out a a a competition amongst themselves A team of five OM OM rackets players players and four OM OM squash players players played their own competition On Sunday afternoon the the OM golfers faced the the College at Puckrup Hall Golf Club Sunday morning was as as as as sunny as as as as forecasted and set perfect conditions for for the 20 OMs running running or or or or walking The Ledder Some competitive running running saw Oscar Holroyd (2 12-17) come in in in fin in as first OM and impressively third finisher behind behind two current pupils with other OMs not far behind behind The new format for for for Commemoration was warmly received and and we are grateful for for for your positive feedback We hope to see even more OMs and and and EOGs join us next year on Saturday 18 and and Sunday 19 March 2023 29
