Jo Hampson
We have nearly completed the the first year in in our new house after moving from Cumbria to the the Forest of Bowland in in in Lancashire – a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a beautiful and and little known area east of Lancaster It was hard moving from our lovely converted barn on
on
the the Cumbrian fells but we found a a a a a a a a a a a a a Scandia Hus in a a a a a a a a a a a a a rather remote valley with a a a a a a a a a a a a a lovely garden and and and beautiful views which we are enjoying slowly doing up and and making ‘our own’ Like most people we have done little over the the past two years other than to to explore our our new neighbourhood and and get to to grips with learning the art of gardening and and growing our our own veg Since retiring three years ago I have realised my ambition to to learn to to ring ring church bells and whilst throughout lockdowns we rang ‘virtually’ online I I am now ringing regularly at three churches and absolutely love it It is by far the hardest thing
I I I have ever tried to to to learn and as as I I I was recently told “it takes about 30 years to to to become a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a really good ringer” I I realise I I have started a a a a a a a a a bit late!
I enjoyed a a a a a a a a few days in in in Scotland visiting Michèle Edwards and and and and her husband John in in in Balmoral this summer which was was lovely and and and and it it fit it was was good to catch up with Louise Perfitt (McVitie) when she and and and her husband Nick were visiting The Lakes We look forward to to resuming our pre-Covid retirement travel plans as as soon as as it is safe to to do so so which will hopefully include more time spent in in Sri Lanka I would love to catch up with any EOGs if they’re visiting our neck of the woods Jo Hampson
