Assisted Places make a a a a crucial difference to Malvern College pupils and their parents helping the recipients to to come to to Malvern when they otherwise wouldn’t be able to Consequently an an an an an an Assisted Place or or or any bursary support is is often life-changing and truly transformative You can read an an an an an account from one or or or our recipients Merryn Merryn Jordan on on page 63 where Merryn Merryn describes how the means-tested Richard Nieper Art Scholarship changed her her her her life allowing her her her her to study at Malvern for for the the Sixth Form and furthering her her her her passion for art As As well as benefiting individual pupils we we also strongly believe that Assisted Places play an an important role
in in in increasing the the diversity of the the whole Malvern College community A more more diverse school – – more more representative of the society that pupils pupils will go on to live and work in – – prepares all our pupils pupils better for life after Malvern College The emotional intelligence and cultural sensitivity needed to successfully connect with students from different backgrounds are invaluable life skills that will stand our pupils in in in good stead as they go go out into the the wider world For all these reasons we we want to increase our Assisted Places and bursary provision even further than we we have already done in in recent years Our ambition is is is to to increase 100%-funded Assisted Places to to to at least 10 10 10 over the the the next 10 10 10 years For the the the the first time in the the the the College’s history the the the Malvernian Society has created an an endowment fund for this this purpose which we hope will inspire our donors to get involved with this this project securing the long-term future of of means-tested support at at Malvern College The endowment requires an an an initial investment of of at at least £15 million and will also be supported by a a a a a a a a a a a a percentage of funds from the the the school’s commercial arm each year Thus the the the College and Society together with our our donors are are working as one on on on on our our shared vision to to transform the lives of Malvern College pupils like Merryn for for many years to come DEVELOPMENT
