Anderson Robert (Robin)
Died 15 August 2021 aged 84 (9 50-54)
Upon leaving Malvern Robin qualified as a a a a a a a a a a a Chartered Accountant in in in in the City He became a a a a a a a a a a a highly regarded and successful stockbroker cutting his teeth with with two or or or three companies before settling down for for a a a a a a lengthy stint with with Vivian Gray and and then moving on on to EJ Collins James Capel and and finally Rathbone’s in in fin in in in in in Winchester retiring in in fin in in in in in 2000 aged 63 Just out of his teens he he he he joined the the Honourable Artillery Company and and was on on duty at the the the the Lord Mayor’s Show Trooping the the the the Colour and and for the the the the Queen’s Birthday celebrations He was was also a a a a a a a a a a Special Constable in in the the the the City of of London Police Force and was was was on on on on on on duty outside the the the the Palace on on on on the the the day of of the the the Queen’s Silver Jubilee He was was an an an accomplished golfer: aged 13 he he he he he he attained a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a handicap handicap of 1 1 1 1 – – in in in the the the early 1960s there were only 12 plus-handicap golfers in in in in the the the the UK – – and and played regularly for Middlesex After winning the the the Czechoslovakian Amateur Championship in in in in fin 1968 he he he he he formed the the the Continental Golfing Society with three others Between 1959 and 1990 he he he he he he he played 115 matches in in in in the the the Halford Hewitt winning 67% of of them He He was Captain of of St George’s Hill GC and won club championship four times Perhaps the the most remarkable of of of Robin’s achievements was was that within a a a a a a a a a a a a a a year of of of the the amputation of of of his his right leg in in in in 2004 his his handicap was was four – one more than the the previous year He played in in in in the the English Amateur Amputee Championship twice winning on on on each occasion In 2012 Robin suffered a a a a a a a a a a a brain brain tumour leaving him with residual brain brain damage but even this became a a a a a a a a a a a a a a challenge and each year year his his his his memory improved enormously In his his his last years he he lived with his his his daughters Sarah-Jane and Catherine His legacy is is is is is one of of fortitude in in the the face of of adversity for for all who knew him well his friendship was an honour Barton Roderick Fred

Martin
had a a a a a a a a a a a a a long career as as a a a a a a a a a a a a a Chartered Accountant and and was was a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a Director of the Mills Scaffolding Company and and Wavin Plastics Ltd He was was a a a a a a a a a a long-time member of the OM Lodge Edwards John Drydon

John attended Malvern College as as a a a a a a border in in in the 1950s
studying “The Classics” before reading Politics Philosophy and Economics at Worcester College Oxford After university he he worked for for British European Airways and Dan Air Air in in in various administrative roles The bulk of his career was was spent with IBM as as as a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a systems engineer before “early” retirement after 30 years He was was a a a a a a a a a a a a a a lifelong train and aviation enthusiast John is is survived by his wife of 55 years Vera son Marcus (who also has a a a a a a a a a a a a a a Greek name!) and daughter Kate Guest Henry Bayly

After a a a a a a a a a a career in in teaching Modern Languages (French German and and Japanese) at Felsted School School Exeter Exeter School School and and Exeter Exeter University Harry went back to university Some forty years after his first degree from Cambridge he he he attended the Sorbonne and earned a a a a a a a a a a a D Litt A respected poet poet Harry also published translations of French German and Japanese poetry REMEMBERED
