Men of sacrifice are also men of purity: they are men of sanctity. They love holiness and hate wickedness. King Hezekiah was a man of sacrifice—of purity and sanctity. No wonder God made him a great king of his time, such that even the time when he was supposed to die God changed his mind, and added fifteen more years to his life. Isaiah 38:5 says:
Go and tell Hezekiah, ‘Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father: “I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; surely I will add to your days fifteen years”.
Look at what king Hezekiah commanded his own people to do during his reign as king of Judah. He knew the value of holiness.
2 Chronicles 29:5:
And said to them: “Hear me, Levites! Now sanctify yourselves, sanctify the house of the Lord God of your fathers, and carry out the rubbish from the holy place.
King Hezekiah had a remarkable success; he had great favor with God. Nothing moved him more than sacrificing on the altars of his forefathers (Abraham, Isaac and Jacob).
