EDUCATOR’S CORNER

I look forward to the winter season and the snow that comes with it! It brings new life to some of the activities that can be done throughout the year. One of those being hiking – your surroundings look so different. When the snow comes in, it changes your surroundings even more. It may muffle or amplify sounds in the distance. To me, the snow makes everything a little more peaceful, especially being out in the woods. This season I look forward
to cross-country skiing again! Last year it became my new hobby, and
I loved it. I can’t wait to get back out on the trails.
The winter also brings the bitter cold, and sometimes it’s a rough season. You must find that spark that keeps you going – for me the icing on the cake is my English lab. He absolutely loves the snow, and watching him zoom, dig and play in the snow makes winter all the better! We had our first snow of the season mid- November, only an inch or so, but it made his day and mine better.
There are so many options when it comes to exploring the snow, from snowball fights, sledding (traditional or cardboard!), skiing and ice fishing to snowshoeing and more! I invite you to try something new this season that you have never done before, and you may just find yourself with a new seasonal hobby! Stop by the Outdoor Adventure Center on one of our Wonderful Winter Outdoors days to try a new activity this season. I hope to see you soon!
