One of my most memorable and significant meetings with Mom happened after the Tsunami in 2005. I was part of a delegation sent by the American Joint to assist the Tsunami victims. Mom succeeded to arrange a place and workshop in Phuket and together with educators and therapists from Thailand and Israel we developed a project that lasted 5 years. The project trained the local people to deal with the trauma and rehabilitate the population in the south. This assistance was also given to professional people from other countries hit by the Tsunami. Mom, as usual, was very efficient, practical and full of compassion and consideration for the other. Thanks to her and to her staff, we developed a support system with the goal of rehabilitating the Tsunami ruins.
My last meeting with Mom was in the last workshop I gave in August 2015. She came to the workshop full of excitement, wanting to be with us, the school and kindergarten teachers of Thailand. That was her natural and comforting place. In spite of her failing health, she did not miss a moment of the workshop. She was alert, active, interested and responsive to everything, in wondrous accuracy. Her ability to look at the future was expressed in a moving conversation when she spoke about the youth culture in the age of cell phones and computers. She amazed me with her updated involvement.
Our last meeting in the workshop was especially moving. Mom was full of excitement and warmth and I wanted to be near her at every possible moment. To experience the moment. I am very sad and sorry to lose Mom. A big gap was opened in my heart, full of longings and moving memories. It is a great loss for all the people that surrounded her and received from her light and to all the children and teachers of Thailand - we all remained orphans. I share your sorrow, understand your hearts and strengthen you from here.
