P. 4
FORWARD FROM THE CHAIRPERSON/PRESIDENT
As the CALEA Chairperson/President, I am pleased to confidently report on the “State of CALEA.” As an organization, we are financially healthy, as our auditor’s report reflects. We are structurally sound and in good hands under the guidance of Executive Director W. Craig Hartley, Jr. I can also report that the entire Board of Commissioners is committed to our corporate mission. Collectively, CALEA staff, the Commission, and our participating client agencies are advancing the quality of our credentialing programs and the value accreditation brings to an agency and its community.
2015 was a year that brought many new initiatives with more still in
the exploration and planning stages. Most of these initiatives will strengthen the organization, increase efficiency and bring greater value to client agencies, and further extend CALEA’s role in public safety professionalism. Our Executive Director and his staff have created momentum that has unleashed creativity and identified new partnerships and opportunities for CALEA that will not only benefit current clients, but open the door for new clients as well. Interest and participation in our accreditation programs has never been higher. That trend is likely
to continue given the public scrutiny and increased expectation that communities are holding for their local police.
I am honored to continue a legacy of outstanding leadership by previous chairpersons am deeply committed to lead this worthy organization in a way that ensures a bright and vital future for CALEA. CALEA is, and will remain, “The Gold Standard in Public Safety.”
