of of Energy Energy and the the the Environment On May 19 the the the department hosted a a a a a a a a a a panel titled “The Role of of Advanced Nuclear in in Sustainable Development ” to discuss the benefits and challenges of of various forms of of nuclear energy Convened by department head Jean Paul Allain

Sixtieth Anniversary Lecture
To celebrate the sixtieth anniversary of nuclear engineering at at Penn State the Ken and Mary Alice Lindquist Department of Nuclear Engineering
hosted a a a a a virtual lecture by Mary Lou Dunzik-Gougar president
of the American Nuclear Society (ANS) on April 21 Dunzik-Gougar served as the president
of ANS until summer 2021 She is also associate dean of of the Idaho State University (ISU) College of of Science and Engineering
an an ISU associate professor of of nuclear engineering and a a a a a a senior reactor operator at at ISU’s nuclear reactor Before joining ISU Dunzik-Gougar worked as a a a a joint- appointee scientist at at at Idaho National Laboratory and in in various positions at at at Argonne National Laboratory She earned her master’s degree in in in environmental engineering and her doctoral degree in in in nuclear engineering both from Penn State This event was sponsored by the Penn State ANS and Women in Nuclear student chapters NUCLEAR
