PENNSYLVANIA HOUSING RESEARCH CENTER NEWS The Pennsylvania Housing Research Center (PHRC) housed within CEE collaboratively engages with with the residential construction industry to catalyze advancements in in in in in in in homebuilding through education training innovation research and dissemination The PHRC envisions a a a a a a a residential construction industry equipped with the knowledge skills and technology to build better homes More information is available at phrc psu edu On-demand continuing education for credit available from the PHRC Industry professionals can now access on-demand courses at at any point to to earn continuing education credit Topics include but are not limited to to air sealing wall bracing healthy homes insulation control layers and and more The number of of credits vary per course course course offerings and and a a a a a a a a a a a a a certificate are are available for download upon completion of of of the course course course course New courses courses are are are being added each month The on-demand courses courses are are offered through Penn State Extension’s platform and and can also be be found on the PHRC’s website Hankin Distinguished Lecture Series

The PHRC recognizes the the importance of continued training for for educators and additional content for for students
pertaining to to the the the residential construction industry In December 2020 the the the the PHRC adapted to the the the reality of of of virtual virtual education through the the the offering of of of a a a a a a a a a a new PHRC Construction Summit event event This virtual virtual event event allowed educators to to earn Act 48 credits required for their teaching credentials and not miss time in in the classroom due to to to to travel Educators were able to to to to watch along with students

Design & Construction Conference The Residential Building
Design & Construction Conference (RBDCC) provides a a a a a a a a a forum for for builders design professionals educators manufacturers and and researchers to to discuss the the the latest advancements in in fin in in in the the the field by sharing their research research findings and and innovations related to residential residential buildings buildings This conference will focus on on on various types of residential residential residential buildings buildings including single- and and and and multi-family dwellings mid-rise and and and and high-rise residential residential buildings factory-built and and and and modular housing dormitories and and and and hotels/motels It will feature two keynote speakers: Wil V Srubar III associate professor at at at the University of of of Colorado Boulder and and and founder and and and managing director director of of of of Aureus Earth Inc and and and Rusty Smith associate director director of of of Rural Studio at at the Auburn University School of of Architecture Architecture Planning and and Landscape Architecture Architecture Srubar will will present present “Transforming Buildings into Carbon Sinks ” and Smith will will present present “Rural Studio: What Does Affordable High-Performance Housing Truly Afford?”
