During its meeting on on Jan 3 the the board unanimously approved the the the executive committee recommendation from the the the previous fall and established seven schools at at Penn State one of of of which was the the School of of of Engineering Engineering with its Departments of of of Civil Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Engineering Across the the decades since that decision engineering- driven advancements have reshaped the the the world
and the the the Penn State School of of Engineering—which
in in in in in 1953 became the the the College of of Engineering— Engineering— has played a a a a a a a a critical role Today the the the college is engaging around the the globe to to help solve humanity’s greatest challenges working to to build a a a a a a a a a more more inclusive academic community and and a a a a a a a a a a more more diverse engineering workforce and and and and partnering in in in in in in new ways across campus and and and with government and and and industry FALL/WINTER 2021 17
