Watch the 125th Anniversary Kickoff Event engineering125 psu edu In November the Penn State College of Engineering began a a a yearlong celebration of of our 125th anniversary with a a a a a kickoff event for students alumni faculty staff and friends Although our initial vision was for an in-person event earlier in in in the fall COVID-19 altered those plans as as it has for so many over the past year But the pandemic did not alter our enthusiasm for commemorating this historic milestone for our our college and our our engineering community around the world Instead of a a a a a gathering on campus we innovated shifting to a a a a virtual video-driven anniversary kickoff on Nov 12 If you have not watched the videos that that premiered on that that day—or if you you simply want to watch them again—I hope you you will visit engineering125 psu edu to do so Throughout 2021 our anniversary celebration continues in in a a a a a variety of of of ways For example on page 44 of of of this issue of of of Engineering Penn State we are excited to announce our inaugural class of 40 40 Under 40 40 Alumni Award honorees These are individuals who have already made impressive strides in in their careers communities and at at Penn State They represent the best of our our college and our our alumni network During this anniversary year we are also recognizing the power of philanthropy
that opens doors for students provides invaluable support for faculty and moves
the the entire college forward During the the year those who support engineering with a gift of $125 or or more will become
a a member our 125th Anniversary Engineering Giving Society and will receive
a a commemorative pin A third way to to celebrate the the college’s 125th is is via a a a a visit to to the the Penn State Berkey Creamery on on campus or online at at creamery psu edu/e-chip Order a a a cone or gallon of Chocolate E-Chip the Creamery’s temporarily renamed Scholar’s Chip flavor which will be available through 2021 following a a a a a naming competition in the college last fall Beginning on page 10 I invite you to read more about the rich history of our college that we are so excited to to celebrate And join us as we look to to the future
