NEWS
New Victorian CPD Regional Centre
PSA in Victoria has expanded its network of regional centres with its latest addition, Hoppers Crossing/ Werribee, located at the Werribee Mercy Hospital.
Victorian Branch Director Bill Suen thanked Deputy Director of Pharmacy at the Werribee Mercy Hospital Patrick Lee for making the venue available.
Mr Suen said Victoria was fortunate to have the support of so many local pharmacists to provide venues and act as coordinators.
‘Without their support our unique regional CPD program would not be possible.’
PSA members in Victoria enjoy a monthly CPD meeting on the first Tuesday of each month between February and October each year across 19 regions. Members are invited to attend one of these regional centres at 7pm to meet colleagues in
each location, receive news updates from the area coordinators and attend a live, interactive webinar that connects an expert speaker to all the regions simultaneously. This provides an opportunity for pharmacists to discuss common issues, exchange ideas, and gain group 2 (or even group 3) CPD credits.
The February lecture is the 2017 Neil Naismith Commemorative Lecture which will feature a panel of speakers discussing the impact of technology on pharmacy practice.
PSA members may attend any of the following centres between 7pm and
9pm on 2 February: Ballarat, Bass Coast, Bendigo, Bundoora, Clayton, Doncaster, Echuca, Frankston, Geelong, Hoppers Crossing/Werribee, Horsham, Mildura, Parkville, Shepparton, Swan Hill, Traralgon, Wangaratta, Warrnambool and Wodonga.
All members will receive advanced notice of upcoming events in their region via the regular PSA eNews. Contact bill.suen@psa. org.au for further information.
ECP CONSULTATIONS COMMENCE
Profession-wide consultations for a PSA Early Career Pharmacist (ECP) White Paper on what a successful and professionally satisfying pharmacist career looks like will start this month at the NAPSA Congress in Perth (24–30 January).
The White Paper consultations are being led by PSA Board member Taren Gill.
She told Australian Pharmacist the focus is firmly on what PSA members and non-members have shared as their main concerns including ECP remuneration, issues around job satisfaction, career
pathways and structured training opportunities and specialisation.
Another issue to be covered in the paper is individual benchmarking – self-assessment and evaluating practice.
‘The consultations will attempt to confirm the key areas of concern faced by ECPs and explore potential solutions to the issues identified.
‘The end product will outline recommendations and actions for PSA and the broader pharmacy profession to consider,’ Ms Gill said.
