Demonstrate and encourage creativity and innovation.
Dr. DiPaula possesses a true gift for helping individuals reach their full potential. He's mentored teachers and administrators that have gone onto other assignments, or have been promoted to larger roles within the system, allowing him to make an impact outside the walls of Hammond. He eloquently and enthusiastically speaks at PTSA meetings, faculty meetings, and student events praising the hard work of his staff and student body. He is able to get desired results through his presence, approach, and capacity to engage his audience.
The opening of each school year, Dr. DiPaula values the staff’s time and limits all meetings through the concept of meeting by memo. New staff are treated to personalized attention while the veterans can prepare their rooms and get organized.
Teachers are encouraged and supported to take risks when planning. Even when a teacher new to the building wants to allow her 9th grade class to go on a scavenger hunt through the building unsupervised, Dr. DiPaula took time to evaluate and troubleshoot any potential problems. He inherently trusts the staff to do what is best for kids.
