If you live in the 91230 zip code you will attend either Carmel Valley Middle School (grades 7-8) or the new Middle School, Pacific Trails and fall under the jurisdiction of the San Dieguito Union High School District.

Carmel Valley Middle School opened in 1999 and serves more than 1,300 students in a rapidly growing and dynamic community. More than 300 parent volunteers work at the school on a regular and part-time basis. Many programs and clubs support student’s academic success; including bobcat connection, peer tutoring, student government, Saturday support, academic competitions, student senate and peer media- tion. When the last API scores were published in 2013, Carmel Valley Middle School had the highest scores in San Diego County.

Pacific Trails Middle School will open in phases, beginning with a 500 seat two story classroom in August, 2015. A cafeteria, media center and administrative building will be added in 2016. A second 500 seat classroom building could be added in 2018 if needed. When it opens about 200-220 7th graders from the 1500 students at Carmel Valley Middle School will be transferred to this new campus. The school will reach preliminary capacity in the fall, 2016 with both 7th and 8th grader students. The plan is to eventually have about 1000 students in each school.
