KnowyourChampagne
Champagne is generally only fermented in two bottles sizes – a standard bottle and Magnum, which is twice the size. However, it is sometimes sold in even larger bottles, each named after a Biblical figure. Can you put them in order of size?
Balthazar, Jeroboam, Methuselah, Nebuchadnezzar, Salmanazar
(Answer at the bottom of the page).
ARE YOU POURING
WINE AWAY?
Did you know as a nation we pour away £470 million* worth of wine every year? That’s according to figures from WRAP, the Waste & Resource Action Programme. Instead of pouring away unfinished wine, why not freeze it and use it to spice up your cooking ? Simply pour it into an ice tray, freeze it, and add a cube or two when you’re next cooking a stew or a casserole.
*November 2009.
Tesco ice cube tray £1.50. Available in larger Tesco stores.

AT TESCO
Tesco is the first to launch the world’s lightest screwcap glass wine bottle weighing just 300g.
It’s all part of our commitment to reduce our carbon footprint by 2020. The bottles look very similar and are just as strong as before but use 30% less glass – saving 560 tonnes of glass a year, equivalent to the weight of 70 London double decker buses! Expect to see more and more on our shelves in the coming year. Just look out for the special logo on the label.
