Rachel Robinson International Fellowship (RRIF)
The Rachel Robinson International Fellowship Program was established in 2008,
with a generous gift from the Sheila C. Johnson Foundation, to promote and support
international and study abroad opportunities for JRF Scholars. RRIF students are selected
based on their academic standing and commitment to service, including the purpose
and scope of the international opportunity. Scholars may use the fellowship for a
variety of initiatives, such as financial support for a study abroad program, a volunteer
opportunity, or in conjunction with employment abroad in accordance with U.S, and
relevant foreign laws.
Passports
The Jackie Robinson Foundation will fund or fully reimburse passport processing fees for
any JRF Scholar wishing to apply for a passport. To be reimbursed, scan and email your
original receipts to Le-Ann Church at lchurch@jackierobinson.org.
Special Recognition Awards
Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholars across the country are not only excelling in the
classroom, they are also effecting significant change and positively impacting the lives
of others in their own communities. Each year, the Foundation presents special awards
to Scholars with particularly prodigious records of academic achievement, civic
engagement, or other demonstrations of extraordinary leadership. JRF Special
Recognition Awards include:
Jackie Robinson Foundation Alumni Association Book Award
Eligibility: All Scholars
Award Amount: $500
In 2013, the JRF Alumni Association launched a campaign to fund a scholarship in
commemoration of the Foundation’s 40th anniversary. As a result of their record
setting efforts, not only were they able to fund a scholarship, but the Association
raised enough funds to endow an annual $500 book award. The award is given
to a deserving JRF Scholar, in any class level, who is in good academic standing;
has demonstrated exceptional service or leadership qualities; and profoundly
demonstrates JRFAA’s mantra of “Give Back”.
Spike Lee Youth Motivation Award
Eligibility: All Scholars
Award Amount: $2,500
The Spike Lee Youth Motivation Award was established in 1995 with a grant from
the acclaimed filmmaker. The award, and a $2,500 cash grant, is given to the Jackie
Robinson Foundation Scholar who has developed the most innovative and practical
method of meeting the needs of an individual, group, or organization. The project
must address a social, economic, educational, governmental or legal problem within
a community and improve the status of the population served.
