The Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship
Congratulations again on your selection to the Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship
Program. Since 1973, JRF has helped college students realize their full personal and
professional potential through a comprehensive mentoring and leadership development
program. To date, more than 1,500 JRF alumni have successfully graduated from college
and graduate school, and have gone on to successful careers in business, science, law,
medicine and the humanities.
This Scholar handbook provides you and your family important information about JRF’s
celebrated program, in which you will participate over the next four years.
Terms of Acceptance
As a Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholar, you are required to:
1. Endeavor to complete your undergraduate education within four consecutive years.
2. Maintain a strong academic standing as defined by your college or university.
3. Notify JRF immediately when you declare or change your major or course of study.
4. Notify JRF immediately if you plan to withdraw, transfer, study abroad or anticipate
any interruption in your academic schedule.
5. Notify JRF if there are any changes to your home or school address, landline telephone
or cell numbers, or e-mail addresses.
6. Each semester, submit to JRF headquarters your official transcript from the prior
semester.
7. Submit to JRF your current resume at the beginning of each fall semester.
8. Complete annual JRF Scholar survey in May.
9. Participate in all local and/or regional activities hosted by JRF, including the annual
Scholars’ Mentoring and Leadership Conference held in New York City during the
spring of each year.
10. Notify JRF staff no less than 48 hours, or as soon as possible, before a scheduled
JRF event, presentation or ceremony if you have a conflict.
11. Obtain specific, written permission from a JRF Program staff member to be excused
from any JRF Scholar obligation.
12. Read Jackie Robinson’s autobiography “I Never Had It Made” (which will be provided
to you) in its entirety.
13. Notify JRF immediately if there is an anticipated delay or acceleration in your
graduation date.
