The Smith family, who in detail are mentioned in this book, owned and operated the hotel from the beginning of the 19th hundreds to around mid 1950ties. They made a solid foun- dation of what the hotel was to become, and we owe a great deal of gratitude to them for the effort and for making the whole building come together.
After the Smiths sold the establishment, many luck seekers had a try, most to no avail, and Tunneln lost most of its former glory.
One honorable mention is Mr. Lars Hector who managed in 1979-1983 to put Tunneln with no little help of Night club, Troccadero (located in the hotel premises) on the map again, until that too disappeared overnight.
Once again Tunneln was left to its own demise, until the building was taken over by the state own real estate company Pandox. In 1997 building was then bought by Björn West- erlund, who owned and ran Hotel Tunneln for 3 years before selling to its current owner Gunnar & Trine Kjems. And here we are, what a ride it has been. The following pictures are from the time period just mentioned, is sort of our own little time machine. I hope you like them.
