and at Gulfstream Race Track in the winter. He has used Equiwinner on horses that just “weren’t doing well”, either not sweating or just not having
a healthy coat and said, “They became healthy from the inside out”. Last summer, he treated his horse, How’s Your Halo, just for “good measure”. His coat improved and he came in second in Calder’s $400,000 25th Running of the Smile Sprint Handicap in July.
The Importance of Supplements
Signal-Health LLC, the US and Canadian distributor, launched its introduction of Equiwinner to the thoroughbred and standardbred racing industries two years ago. As it turned out, the rst customers were trainers who had desperate situations, where some horses were bleeding through Lasix treatment, the drug they are allowed to use on race day to stop bleeding. They had tried everything to stop these horses from bleeding and had no other options left.
There is no question that a correctly planned nutritional protocol of supplementation can increase an equine athlete’s performance. Very often the results can be quite dramatic.

“Frankly, I was a little worried that Equiwinner was being put to the highest tests and wondered whether it would work on these tough cases.” said Barbara Socha, president of Signal- Health. Equiwinner is readily used
With more and more success stories, Signal-Health is continuing to add testimonials and is especially pleased
to have added testimonials from Rick Zeron (Canadian Hall of Fame) and Bill O’Donnell (US & Canadian Hall of Fame) to the list this winter,
Many companies manufacture multitudes of equine supplements, and as these industries grow, the equine owners and trainers need to know more about the quality, safety and ef cacy
of these products. There seem to be more questions than answers. Is what they say in the ingredients section
of the label really in the container?
Are the quantities really suf cient for effectiveness? What about companies who don’t declare ingredients or use the vague term “proprietary blend”? What is a reasonable amount of time
to see the desired effect? Does one nutrient require another for proper absorption? Why are liquids more effective than powders?
the heart to speed up, this causes the senses to be on hyper alert. While the release of adrenalin allows the athlete to run or compete, it is still a reaction which is actually detrimental to our continued good health once the danger has passed. If the body did not have a mechanism for inactivating the adrenaline it would also act as
to treat all kinds of bleeders in other countries where Lasix is not allowed so there are fewer options.
Equiwinner is patented or patent pending worldwide, and is the world’s rst health product to use therapeutic cell signaling. Equiwinner and Smart Cell Signal are the inventions of Therapina Ltd. (UK) and distributed in the US and Canada by Signal-Health LLC. Equiwinner, Smart Cell Signal and Signal-Health are trademarks.
Equiwinner worked for the rst customers and there’s been no looking back. One trainer, who successfully treated a bad bleeder in February of 2007 while in Florida for winter training, was still having success in June when Barbara met up with him again at Belmont Park in New York. Another trainer who also treated a bad bleeder in February of 2007 said the horse became claimer of the year at Finger Lakes Race Track in 2007.

a toxin. Consider the actions of the hormone insulin. One of the major known functions of insulin is to reduce the amount of glucose that circulates in the blood. Insulin is released into the blood stream from the pancreas

Sub optimal nutrition can have a debilitating affect on every organ system and function of the equine body. This can in uence reproduction, bone, joints, tendons, muscles, liver, kidneys and lungs. Not to mention your pocket book. Even the behaviour of the equine can be affected because by sub optimal nutrition. For example, pain is a very real symptom. In horses it is often displayed through sudden bad behaviours.
in response to an elevated level of glucose in the blood. Now the body needs to have glucose in the blood stream because the brain and the red blood cells can only use glucose as a fuel. If insulin was not controlled it
is not surprising to predict a scenario where insulin will continue to reduce the glucose levels in the blood to zero. If this were to happen the brain would shut down and death would occur.

If we look at the thousands
of processes that keep the body functioning properly we can easily
see situations where one substance
can be both a toxin and also necessary for proper function of the body. The only difference between toxins and substances necessary for proper functioning of the body is location
and timing. In the above examples the toxins are called endogenous toxins because it is produced by the body. There are many other examples of endogenous toxins, such as hormones, endogenous steroids, insulin etc. If all of the above mentioned endogenously produced substances were not broken down to another form it would act
as toxins which will disrupt the
normal functioning of the body.
The endogenously produced toxins
are probably the greatest source of toxins. Fortunately the cells in the body have many different biochemical mechanisms which can control the breakdown of these toxins. Even
after breakdown of these toxins the products produced as a result of breakdown must be eliminated from within the cell to the blood from where it will be transported to the organs of elimination. With these normal equine body functions and processes, we still see, some owners and trainers who
