Once again there was a large crowd of race fans for BC Cup Day at Hastings Racecourse

That Hastings Racecourse based trainer,
Gary Demorest was North America’s Leading Trainer by Stakes Winners for the week of August 7 to August 13 thanks to his three BC Cup Day winners on August 7. His winners included: Spaghetti Mouse in the BC Cup Classic Handicap; He’s Quite a Guy in the Stellar’s Jay Handicap; and Chelsea’s Image in the Debutante Stakes.
Did You Know....
That Cecil Peacock’s Brother Derek was
scheduled to make his next start in the $100,000 El Cajon Stakes at Del Mar on September 2 after trainer Hendricks stated that the multiple Grade 1 winner will likely run on the dirt eliminating the speculation that he could run in the $400,000 G2 Del Mar Derby which is run on the turf the following day.
Brother Derek finished fourth in the Preakness Stakes in his last start.
