In 2007 Johannesburg sired 180 starters, 62 winners, 6 Stakes winners, with total earnings of $3,992,869, including Scat Daddy (G1), Teu esberg (G2), Baroness Thatcher (G3), Marcavelly (G3), La Traviata (G3), and Sageburg (IRE).
Marcavelly is out of a full sister to multiple G1 winner Hidden Light, who is the dam of BC Champion Artie Schiller.
Husbands, Casse and Stronach on Top at Woodbine
Marcavelly (Johannesburg - Dark Jewel, by Majestic Light), a multiple graded stakes winner, will stand at stud for the 2009 season at Colebrook Farms Stallion Station in Ontario.

For the second consecutive season, the dynamic duo of jockey Patrick Husbands and trainer Mark Casse were the leaders in their respective categories at Woodbine.
Ahmed Zayat purchased Marcavelly for $340,000 at the 2006 Fasig-Tipton Calder sale of select two-year-olds in training. Marcavelly went on to win the Continental Mile Stakes in 2006, followed by the Hill Prince Stakes

This was the  fth Woodbine riding title for Patrick (1999, 200, 2002 and 2007) who also had the highest earnings of the colony with $9,433,918.
