Juvenile Stakes Recap
The Princess Elizabeth & Coronation Futurity Stakes for Cdn-bred 2 yr-olds are regarded as showcase races of future stars of the Canadian Classic races for 3 yr-olds the next year.
This painting of Doug’s Legacy with Maggie & John’s son Douglas hangs in John’s backstretch of ce at Woodbine.
Following in his father’s footsteps Douglas has
an interest in aviation and is striving to become an aircraft mechanic. He is currently honing his skills as a volunteer at the Great War Flying Museum at the Brampton Flying Club.
Douglas is also the registered breeder and owner of two three-year-old colts out of family owned mares:
Tenebrae (War Cry - Portage La Prairie, by Wonneberg) was born during earth hour on March 23, 2013 and his name is the Latin word for darkness.
Immaculate Inning (Wando - Feet On Fire, by Mutakddim) was born two days later and was given the name of the term used in Major League Baseball when a pitcher strikes out three batters in nine pitches.

Chiefswood Stable homebred Ghostly Presence, expertly handled by Steve Bahen, collared a free- wheeling Enstone in the  nal stride to win the $251,200 Princess Elizabeth Stakes, at Woodbine November 12, 2016.
The chestnut daughter of Ghostzapper, trained by Roger Att eld, Ghostly Presence overcame Post 10 to win the 1 1/16-mile Tapeta route for Canadian- foaled juvenile  llies and rate inclusion amongst the favourites for the 2017 Woodbine Oaks.

The late William R. Hodgson
Also known as “WR” and Bill Hodgson, he was a hotel magnate (Skyline Hotels) from Etobicoke and was once the owner of the Toronto Argonauts and the Old Mill Inn & Spa.
In 1973 he reportedly saved the Old Mill from demolition and instead restored the building with massive renovations. In 1990, Hodgson purchased the Doctor’s House in Kleinburg, Ontario and also completely restored and expanded the facility to include banquet facilities and a non-denominational chapel.
Bill was the owner of Kingsbrook Farm, a 120- acre Thoroughbred horse breeding farm and training facility in Kettleby, Ontario. The farm operated from 1981 to 1993 and produced standout winners including Blushing Katy, Champion 3-year- old  lly in 1989.

King and His Court, under a ground saving trip
by Gary Boulanger, zipped up the rail to defeat stablemate State of Honor in the $250,400 Coronation Futurity, at Woodbine November 13, 2016.
Trained by Mark Casse, the Court Vision bay
was a recent private purchase for Gary Barber and Wachtel Stable from former owner-trainer Alexander Patykewich.
Assistant trainer Kathryn Sullivan credited King and His Court’s former trainer for his efforts with the improving gelding.
King and His Court was bred in Ontario by Patricia Weber and Robert Weber. Watch the video replay
